Welcome to the Woodbridge School Chess Club Website. Woodbridge School is one of the very few private schools in the country to employ a full-time chess teacher, International Master Adam Hunt who is also coach to the English Junior teams at various international events. Your child is able to learn chess from a young age here at Woodbridge, and standards range right through from complete beginners to England representatives.
A major chess tournament is hosted each term. The forthcoming academic year (2007-2008) will see the Woodbridge Junior Open taking place on Sunday 25th November 2007. The Suffolk Junior Open will be on Sunday 3 February 2008 and the Suffolk Megafinal on the 11th May. As well as this there is a biannual 24 hour chess marathon to raise money for local charities, and a teachers vs students match. The teachers took victory in 2006 by a score of 4.5-3.5 to level the scores at 1-1
On this site we hope to provide you with all sorts of information about chess at the school, as well as in the Suffolk area. We want you to enjoy this site as much as possible, and so any feedback (positive or negative) will be most welcome.
We are always looking for interesting opportunities of exchanges and visits to schools and clubs in different countries. If you would be interested in participating please get in touch
